Richard ""Darren"" Coleman Obituary
Richard "Darren" Coleman passed on in Estes Park, Colorado, on November 17th, 2013, at the age of 38. He was born on May 10, 1975, in Woodland, California, the son of Shelby and Gere Coleman and Brenda and Russ Vatnsdal. He spent his youth in Northern California where he went to Lodi & Del Campo High Schools graduating in 1993. On Valentines Day in 1998, he met his bride, Lindsey McKnight, and they were married in 2000. Darren and Lindsey raised their girls in Western Colorado, and recently decided to make Estes Park their home.
Darren is survived by his wife, Lindsey, and daughters Julia and Killian; he is also survived by his parents, brothers Daynan, Aaron and Donny and his sister Stacey and their families. While he loved fishing, being outdoors and enjoyed music concerts, the focus of Darren's life was very rarely himself. He was a beloved son, a loyal brother and friend, and a perpetually kindhearted husband and father.
It's impossible not to feel cheated when the life of such a wonderful human being is cut short, without any earthly justification or proper explanation. But in his life, he was a good man with a good heart. He had an overwhelming sense of purpose and responsibility for those he loved. Giving as much of himself as he did - for the sake of others - was the constant and extraordinary way in which he lived. He loved whom he loved with his whole heart. And if you were fortunate enough to be on his list of cherished family and friends, you knew it.
He lived a half-life, but in that time he influenced people in meaningful and lasting ways. Because of who Darren Coleman was in life, those he leaves behind are exponentially more fortunate. He was thoughtful, generous, hard working and boldly unselfish. Without fear of contradiction, Darren was known to chronically help anyone, anywhere, and without question. And in equal parts, he was as contented and laid-back as he was principled and headstrong.
A memorial service will be held at Allnutt Funeral Home in Estes Park (1302 Graves Avenue) on Thursday, November 21st, 2013, at 4:30pm. For the sole benefit of his children, the Darren Coleman Family Fund has been established through US Bank, with the purpose of providing financial stability and educational opportunities, for the girls' future. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be sent to www.darrencolemanfamilyfund.com or at any US Bank branch. See www.allnutt.com to send a message to Darren's family.
