Robert Gary Lefley of Estes Park, Colorado was born May 31st, 1929 went to be with the Lord on the morning of April 29th, 2014. He was preceded in death by his mother Delta and leaves behind his loving wife Helen and four children and seven grandchildren. Robert C. Lefley, Tim Lefley (Calla 19, and Carissa 15), Meg Colone (husband Ralph, Madeline 12, and Abigail 9), Martha Johnson (husband Scott, Whitney 19, Nate 17, and Noah 16).
Robert (Bob) was born in Pittsburg, PA to Delta Lefley and moved to the Chicago area before he was one year old. He graduated from Senn High School in Chicago and entered the Army where he served as a cryptographer. During his time in the Army Bob ran track and competed throughout Europe in the 400 meter race. After the Army Bob enrolled in Milliken University in Decatur, Illinois at the urging of his pastor Dr. Wright of Ravenswood Presbyterian Church. He continued his successful track career and also competed on the parallel bars in gymnastics. After college Bob moved back to Chicago to work in sales in the Bindery Industry and eventually on to book covering materials. He began attending the singles group called "Northies" at Fourth Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue where he met the love of his life Helen Clark.
Bob and Helen were married at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago on June 14th, 1958 and honeymooned at the Clark family summer home in Estes Park, Colorado. They lived in the Chicagoland area (Chicago, Wheaton and West Chicago) until Bob and Helen retired in 1994 then moved permanently to Estes Park where Bob recently passed away.
Bob and Helen joined College Church in Wheaton when they moved there in 1961. Bob was known for generously giving of his time and talents to the church and those in need. He was involved with Wheaton Christian Grammar School and Wheaton Academy where he sent his children. Always attending sporting events and helping on the various parenting committees.
Bob's accomplishments in business included the inventing of the children's catheter for Gane Bros, and the development of Skyvertex the most widely known book covering material in the country. His material covered most of the bibles and hymnals not to mention a major portion of the hard covered books elen were married at Fourth Presbyterian Chuch in Chicago on June 14th, 1958that were printed in the U.S.
Bob was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and his gifted singing voice. He sang in night clubs to help pay for college and often when the family was out for dinner he would join in with a band that was on a nearby stage. Bob was known and a loving, creative and funny father, grandfather and husband. He always found a way to interject his sense of humor into even the most difficult family situations. He will be remembered for the great laughter he provided our lives with and as a man who loved the Lord, loved his wife and family, he was a great Dad and an uplifting friend. He will be greatly missed.
