Robert McCreery Obituary
Robert Bruce "Bob" McCreery, 75, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2016, in his home in Estes Park, Colorado, following a brief illness. Bob was born June 9, 1941, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to William and Annabelle (Rogers) McCreery. He graduated from Sterling High School (KS) in 1959 and received his undergraduate degree from Sterling College (KS) in 1963. On August 17, 1963, he married the former Linda Bay in Pretty Prairie, Kansas. He taught chemistry at Bear Creek High in Denver Colorado from 1964-1967, during which time he also completed his graduate studies at Kansas State University. He returned to Sterling in 1967 where he served Sterling College in a variety of positions including tennis coach, assistant football coach, director of admissions, and vice president of advancement. In the 1970s Bob founded All Pro Sports Camps, which brought to Sterling some of the top professional athletes of the era. He served on the Sterling College Board of Trustees from 1986 to 1998 and was a longtime member of The Sterling Rotary. In 1982, Bob founded Sterling Petroleum Company, where he served as President until 1997. Bob moved to Estes Park, Colorado, in 1997, where his great-great grandfather homesteaded in 1875, and was a member of Community Church of the Rockies, active in the Summer Resident Association and Estes Park Men's Golf, and sold Real Estate at Peak Realty. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Estes Park; two daughters, Heather McCreery of Estes Park, and Kimberly Kuo of Charlotte, North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Micah and Kylie McCreery-Carter of Estes Park, and Olivia and Aidan Kuo of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also survived by two brothers, William of Estes Park, and David of Salem, Oregon. Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 21, at Community Church of the Rockies at 2:00 PM. A memorial reception will be held by the family on Friday, December 2, at 3:00 PM on the campus of Sterling College in Heritage Chapel located in Cooper Hall. Memorials donations, and in lieu of flowers, may be made in Bob's honor to Sterling College, Advancement Office, 125 W. Cooper Ave, Sterling, KS 67579.
