William Kilbourn Obituary
William David Kilbourn 82, died August 16, 2016 following many tears of Alzheimer's Disease at the Presbyterian Manor in Sterling Colorado. William was born on July 11, 1934 to Nelson and Roberta Cooke Kilbourn on the family ranch in rural Sterling. He was a long-time Sterling resident, he also lived in Fredrick, OK, Estes Park, CO and Canton, TX. William graduated from Sterling High School in 1952 and KSU in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He also attended Sterling College for two years. He worked in the Petroleum Field, as a Deputy Sheriff in Larimer County, Co, in Security at the 6th Floor Kennedy Museum in Dallas, TX, and at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. William was also a served the the Military Police in the Army National Guard. He grew up in the Sterling Presbyterian Church and was a current member of the United Methodist Church in Sterling. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta at KSU, a life member of the American Rifle Association, and was the Great-Grandson of Dr. Francis Spencer who was the first President of Sterling College. He married Joy Lower in Aldeo, IL on May 5, 1957. She died in March of 1997. He married Clara Mae Williford Beldon, July 10, 1999 in Sterling, CO. He is survived by his wife Clara Mae Kilbourn, two daughters; Susan (Michael) Beckett, Oklahoma City, OK and Martha Ann (David) Stippich, Colorado Springs, CO. Four Grandchildren; Jessie Beckett, Roberta Rowland, Michelle Bennet, Michael Kilbourn and four Great-Grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his Parents and his brother Robert Kilbourn. A service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Sterling CO. The Rev. Jeff Miller and Matt Hendricks will be officiating. William will be buried at the Sterling Community Cemetery with Military Honors by the Sterling American Legion. You may send memorials in William's name to the Sterling High School Track Program or Sterling High School Gun Club in car of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, CO.
