Jerry Mize Obituary
Jerry Mize, of Estes Park, formerly of Greeley passed away March 9, 2013 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. He was born January 4, 1930 in Caney, Kansas, to Alvie C. and Hannah Mae (Shelton). He married the love of his life, Jean Carpenter, in 1952.

He graduated High school in Longmont, CO, in 1948. Jerry served 2 years in Army during the Korean War and went on to graduate from college at UNC in Greeley, CO in 1956.

Jerry started in the grocery business at the age of 13 and then went on to own his own grocery store, Jerry's Market, which he began in 1964, and where it is still being family run today by his son Steve Mize. The grocery business was thoroughly ingrained in him and he enjoyed and appreciated all of his customers.

He was a member of the Greeley Lions Club, Greeley Elks, Masonic Lodge, Investment Clubs, Alumni Group of UNC and Eastern Star.

Jerry and his wife Jean retired to Estes Park in 1994.

Jerry was a devoted family man, dedicated business man and loved being in Estes Park where he enjoyed being outdoors skiing, fishing, hiking and snow shoeing. He also loved meeting with his coffee buddies both in Estes Park and in Greeley.

Jerry will be greatly missed by his wife, Jean Mize; daughter: Kathy Kaberline; son: Steve Mize ; grandchildren,
Tesa Michaels, Tavis and Jodi Kaberline, Merick Mize, and Myah Mize; and great granddaughter Lilly Mae Kaberline

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 14, 2013 at First Congregational Church. Interment at Linn Grove Cemetery with a reception to follow at First Congregational Church.
