Greg Westley Obituary
Estes Park resident Greg Westley died July 4, 2013 in Grand Lake, CO. He was 50 years old. Gregory George Westley was born February 6, 1963 in Hays, KS. His parents are John William Westley and Connie Jo (Striegel) Westley.
Greg graduated from Washington Community High School. He continued his studies at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering and Technology. While at Western he met Debora Ann Kassing. The couple was married in St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Caseyville, IL on October 18, 1986. They moved to Estes Park, CO in 1996 where Greg started Timber Creek Homecrafters. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church.
A strong Catholic, his faith and family were the center of his life. Greg was also actively involved with the Boy Scouts and served as Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 10. There was nothing Greg enjoyed more than spending time with his family; be it hiking, camping, boating, skiing, snowshoeing, fishing or in quiet conversation. The family frequently traveled on adventures across the country. Greg also enjoyed woodworking and carpentry, building the family's home and teaching his children the skills he had learned.
Greg is survived by his wife Debbie; sons B.J., Jacob, Sam, Amos, Matthias and Elijah; daughters Annabelle and Amelia and parents Bill and Connie all of Estes Park. He is also survived by his brother Michael Westley and wife Wendy of Morton, IL, and 2 sisters Tamra Schmidgall and husband Dwayne and Marla Sutter and husband Del, all of Hopedale, IL. He was preceded in death by his brother Matthew in 2000.
Visitation will take place at Allnutt Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 2, from 3 to 6 p.m. A Rosary and Evening Vigil will follow at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrate Greg's life on Saturday, August 3, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Estes Valley Memorial Gardens.
