Ruth B. Clark Obituary
Ruth Dorothy Bruns Clark passed away at the Prospect Park Living Center on August 17, just a few weeks short of her 91st birthday. Born and raised in Bloomfield, New Jersey, she graduated from the New Jersey College for Women (now Douglass College of Rutgers University) in 1943.
Although trained in Home Economics she chose instead to work during WWII as a lab technician creating paint samples for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. She married William Delos Clark II in 1946 and later gave birth to their only child, Katie. The family settled in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area, including Camp Hill, where Ruth lived until 2008 when she moved to Estes Park, Colorado to be near her daughter. She was an avid gardener, bridge player, spinner, weaver, needle-worker, inventive cook, voracious reader, grammarian, and world traveler. After leading Brownie and Girl Scout Troops, she served on the Harrisburg area Hemlock Council for 25 years; was a former president of the Camp Hill Women's Club; a Juried Member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen; a member of the Penn Cumberland Garden Club and a Certified Flower Show Judge. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Bernhard Henry and Ruth Amelia King Bruns; Bill, her husband of 54 years, and a sister, Ellen King Bruns Froemel. She is survived by her daughter, Katie Bealle Cope (Jim); two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Althea Bruns Palven; a nephew; two nieces, and their families.
Ruth will be remembered by her family and friends for her enthusiasm, creativity, kindness, involvement in the community and wise counsel. Expressions of sympathy may be in the form of a contribution in her name to the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library or Hospice of the Estes Valley, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 1302 Graves Ave. Estes Park, CO 80517. View the full obituary at www.allnutt.com.
