Barbara Lee (Dunn Russell) Rogers


1929 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Barbara Lee (Dunn Russell) Rogers, 84, passed away peacefully September 21, 2013 in Petaluma, California. Barbara was born May 15, 1929 in Hastings, Nebraska to the late Howard and Dorothy (Ryons) Dunn. Barbara spent her childhood in Hastings with two older sisters, and after her mother's passing, a loving step-mother Helen enriched her life.
In 1950 Barbara graduated from UNL Teachers College and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She married Richard P. Russell and had four children in Lincoln, Nebraska. For many years she was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church where she taught preschool. She was also a kindergarten teacher who touched hundreds of young lives in the Lincoln and York, Nebraska Public Schools.
In 1972 Barbara married John R. Rogers of York where they lived until retiring to Estes Park, Colorado. They enjoyed sharing their home and their love of the Rocky Mountains with family and friends. Barbara owned and operated The Barouche Shop, a ladies apparel store in Estes; spent special time with grandchildren including trips abroad; with hands and heart she created beautiful needle works and actively collected teddy bears.
Preceded in death by her first husband Richard Russell, husband John Rogers, sister Shirley and brother-in-law Carl Fulton, and sister Dorothy Dunn.
She is survived by sons Richard A. Russell II and Jim (Laurie) Russell of Lincoln, NE; daughters Rebecca (Paul) Van Lith of Healdsburg, CA, and Cindy Weber of York, NE; grandchildren Jessica (Sean) Burns of Boston, MA, Elia (Stefon) Shelton of Oakland, CA, Maggie (Joel) Troester of York, Chezo Van Lith of Healdsburg, John (Mackenzie) Weber of Scottsdale, AZ, and Rachel (John) Robinson of Lincoln; eight great-grandchildren.
