Ardis Ann "Dee" Murray Obituary
Ardis "Dee" Murray, 83, formally of Estes Park, made her final journey in life on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City, Iowa.
A memorial service for Dee Murray was previously held on Saturday, April 19, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Forest Cornelius of the First Congregational Church officiated.
Ardis Ann Carter Murray was born Sept. 20, 1930 in Sloan, Iowa, the daughter of Dewey and Ila (Stephens) Carter. She graduated from high school in Sioux City, Iowa in 1948. She was united in marriage to Ned Murray on Dec. 18, 1958 in Lincoln, Neb. They spent most of their lives in Estes Park where they owned and operated Heidi House and the Olympus Lodge. Dee worked at Hidden Valley Ski Resort, in the kitchen, and Dee also worked at Fist National Bank.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Dee liked to sew, knit, bake, read and have lunch or dinner dates with her "girl friends." Family was always important to Dee, and she looked forward to sharing life with them, especially her granddaughter Harlie.
Living family members include four children, Cindy (Gene) LaBounty of Charles City, Mike (Kathy) Murray of Erie, Colo., Pat (Nicki) Murray of Estes Park, and Sean (Theresa) Murray also of Estes Park; four grandchildren, Lori Estlund of Charles City, Kim Swanstrom of Charles City, Bryan Murray of Erie and Harlie Murray of Estes Park; two great-grandchildren, Bryant Estlund and Mandy Swanstrom, both of Charles City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ned Murray on Nov. 18, 1998 and two grandsons, Brent and Eric Murray.
A family service is scheduled for a later date.
