Lillian Fitzgerald Obituary

Lillian Fitzgerald, 87, of Youngsville, Pa., passed away Sunday morning, February 3, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie. She was born June 12, 1925 at home in East Branch, a daughter of the late Ryland and Adeline Miller Cobb. Lillian retired in 1989 from the Garland post office where she worked as postmaster for 17 years. She had also worked as a waitress at the former Deer Head Inn in Spring Creek. She had been very active in the Garland Presbyterian Church for a number of years and served on the Warren Co. School Board. Lillian enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and close friends. She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Susan) Fitzgerald of Erie, David Fitzgerald of Boston, Mass., Jeffery (Patricia) Fitzgerald of Panama, N.Y., a sister Mary Wojtowicz of Garland, a step granddaughter, Tessa (Ben) Beckwith and three step great grandchildren, Rowen and Asher Beckwith and Natalie Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband William Fitzgerald, who died May 3, 2012, and a sister Ruth Schrambling. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main St. in Youngsville. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ellie Johns-Kelley, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Warren, officiating. Burial will be in the East Branch Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Garland Presbyterian Church, Rt. 27 Garland, Pa., the Garland Vol. Fire Dept., 31 Bailey Ln. Garland, PA 16416 or to Hospice of Warren Co., 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA 16365. Condolences to the family may be made at www.nelsonfuneralhome.net.
