Roger L. Allen, 88, Fort Atkinson, died on Sunday, April 27, 2014.
He was born on February 8, 1926, in Waterford, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Willard and Carabell (Morrow) Allen.
He was united in marriage to Lynda (Naughton) in 1952, and had a loving marriage for 61 years.
He graduated from Waterford High School (now Fort Lebeouf) in 1943, and later graduated from Gannon University, Erie Pennsylvania, in 1950, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Accounting.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, taking part in France and Germany, involved in three different battle campaigns. In France, he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Wherever he moved or lived, he and Lynda would immediately join the local Lutheran Church. In those times, he served on different councils, foundations, and was active in Sunday School. He taught second and ninth grades, and served as Superintendent of Sunday School in a church in Erie. Roger was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, and recently belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson.
After graduating from college, he became a Floorcovering Buyer and Department Manager in the Boston Store (Associated Dry Goods Co.) in Erie. Roger was later transferred to H. and S. Pogue Co. (Another Associated Store) and served as a Floorcovering Buyer and Department Manager in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In 1969, he moved his family to Wisconsin, where he became a salesman with Milliken and Company, as a Territory Manager.
Roger loved his family, enjoyed being a sports fan, and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda; four sons, Curt (Sue) of Fort Atkinson, Wis., Craig (Renee) of Carrollton, Texas, Cary (June) of Grapevine, Texas, Chris (Sue) of Oconomowoc, Wis.; along with eight much loved grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie Gates of Waterford, Pennsylvania.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, Elbert and a sister, Millicent.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m., on Friday, at the church, until the time of service.
Burial of the cremated remains will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, Wis.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Lake Mills EMS or Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson, Wis.
