Eugene T. Miller, age 81, passed away on January 2, 2013 at Brevillier Village. He was born on August 14, 1931 the son of the late Eugene and Esther Hartung Miller. Mr. Miller was a draftsman for 37 years with G.E. He also was a member of Wayne Park Baptist Church and eventually became a deacon. At the age of 7, he became the poster child for the March of Dimes. Between the ages of 5 â€" 9, he lived at the Shriner's Hospital to help overcome and to battle the obstacles he would face with his polio. Eugene was a talented model builder but his favorite was the Flagship Niagara. He was noted for building "blue" bicycles and giving them to the kids in the neighborhood to ride. He was an umpire for the Industrial Softball League for 8 years and loved to coach many sports such as basketball, softball, and little league. He was a jokester, had a great sense of humor, and was very quick witted. If you knew him, that's what you knew him for. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margie, a granddaughter, Jill Marie Noonan, great grandson Grant Eugene Bussard. Survivors include his children: James Miller and wife Karen, Janet Noonan and husband Mark all of Erie, Kimberly Bussard and husband Ronald of Surprise, Ariz., Daniel Miller, Kelly Dyleski and husband Joseph all of Erie, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Robert C. Miller of Erie and his best lady friend, Bertha Bostaph. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 602 West 10th Street on Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a service there at 7 p.m. with Pastor Dave Waldo officiating. Interment will be at Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery, North East, Pa. The family wishes to thank the Brevillier Ball Pavilion for their excellent care over the last 5 years and the ZemZem organization for caring for him as a child with his polio disability. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505; Wayne Park Baptist Church, 923 East 6th Street, Erie, PA 16507; Brevillier Village, 5416 East Lake Road, Erie, PA 16511.
