Ronald Lee Campbell, Sr., age 83, of North East, Pa., passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Ball Pavilion. He was born in Arnold, Pa. on October 28, 1929, son of the late William and Janet Debrow Campbell. Ronald served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He has lived in the Erie area since 1972 and was employed as a State Inspector for the Department of Occupational and Professional Affairs with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion North East Post, Moose Lodge of North East, volunteered for Parkside and the Thrift Store in North East. Besides his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Blose, a sister Darlene Zimmerman, and an infant great grandchild. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Freda Lea Winkelman Campbell; one daughter, Debby Bichard of Jamestown, Pa.; one son, Ronald Lee Campbell, Jr. of Meadville, Pa., one step daughter, Janice Culp (David) of North East, two stepsons, Dale Hopkins of Elko, Nevada, and Robert Hopkins (Jeannine) of Houston, Texas; one brother, William Campbell (Mercedes) of Saltsburg, Pa.; two sisters, Elaine Campbell of New Kensington, Pa. and Katherine Shannon (Phillip) of Florida; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
