Jane Janicki Obituary

Jane V. Ciukaj Janicki,88, joined the angels as she passed on Monday February 11, 2013 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Jane was born in Erie on January 13, 1925 to John and Helen Konzielawa Ciukaj. She attended Holy Trinity Parochial School and Academy High School, where she played sports that girls were permitted to play then. She had many interests but most important in her life was her family. She was a wonderful cook and could have been on Food TV Network but she was a woman before her time. Jane was a fervent Tampa Bay Rays fan, having a blue Mohawk hairdo in celebration of their first playoff season. Together with her husband, Tony they fished off South Pier, created many wooden toys, and other crafts, and were loyal parishioners of Holy Rosary Church. She was a member of the Rosary Alter Society. For the past ten years, they lived out their days in sunny St. Petersburg Florida with family and attended St. Raphael Church where she was a member of the Catholic Council of Women. They could always be found at mid-court or the 50 yard line at their grandkids games. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Stanley, Walter, and Steven Ciukaj, her sister Antoinette Sonzala, her daughter Jane Dippo and her grandson Justin Janicki. She is survived by her husband Tony of 69 years, sons Anthony Jr. (wife Susan) and Robert (fiance Anita), son in law Mickey, grandchildren Michael, David Christopher, Anthony, and Holly, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St. Friday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and may attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Petersburg Catholic High School Athletics. 6333 9th Ave. No., St. Petersburg, FL 33711. Send condolences to www.slomskifuneralhome.com

My deepest sympathies. She was a wonderful woman. I enjoyed growing up at Holy Rosary knowing her and making her crosses on Palm Sunday.
