John Hall Obituary

John W. Hall, age 84, of Erie, passed Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Millcreek Community Hospital to forever be reunited with his loving wife in the presence of their Lord. He was born in Erie on January 17, 1929 the son of the late William and Eva Ikeler Hall. John was the owner of Hall's Carpet Installations for over 30 years. Upon retirement he drove a school bus for Millcreek Township where he received many safety awards. He had many loves and interests such as competitive Ballroom dancing, boating, ice fishing, traveling in his Airstream and scuba diving with the Blue Dolphins in which he was one of the founding members. He shared his love of water by teaching Special Needs children to swim through the American Red Cross. He was a member of Lawrence Lodge No. 708 F. &A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Erie, and the Zem Zem Temple Shrine; he was a Zem Zem Camel Herder and a member of the Arab Patrol. He served on the Board of the Saga Club, was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club Singing Society; a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club; and a member of the Commodore Perry Chorus. In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie and his son-in-law, Dave Nohovig. He is survived by four children, Candie Nohovig, of Union City, John N. Hall and his wife Kathie, of Erie, Linda Sanner and her husband Gregory, of Mill Village and Rae Rizzi, of West Chester, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Tammy McCrae, Kristen Bires, Cindy Higgins, Andrew Hall, Tom Sanner, Sarah Rizzi, and Jake Rizzi. He is further survived by six great grandchildren. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Church of the Cross, 5901 Millfair Avenue, on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Reverend James Moelk officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street, Erie, PA 16502.
