Mary H. Thomson, age 86, of Erie, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013, at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Erie on August 27, 1926, daughter of the late Oscar and Selma Flinkman. Mary was a graduate of Harbor Creek High School and worked at General Electric Company, during WWII. She was active in the Gem City Rock and Mineral Society, where she served in numerous offices and as show chairman. Mary was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors, Presque Isle Chapter 4 and M-31 Astronomical Society. She was also was active in the Harborcreek AARP and the Eastside YMCA. She enjoyed sewing and making jewelry. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander "Veikko" Thomson, Jr. She is survived by one daughter, Laurie Edwards; two sons, Cliff Thomson and Tommy Thomson; one sister, Erma Jendrasiak; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Jacquelyn and Bryan; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Roy Washill officiating. You were such a warm, kind friend to my Mom and Dad; a good mother and wife; to Cliff, Tom, and Laurie and your beloved, Veikko. I lost touch when I went to PGH. I'll always remember those early happy times in the country with your family!

Mary welcomed us into the Gem City family more than 20 years ago. I will always remember her as a kind and generous person. My heart goes out to her family.
