How to place an obituary in Erie Times-News

For more information on submitting an obituary, please contact the Erie Times-News by phone or email. You can speak to someone regarding this during the following times:
Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturdays 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays and Holidays 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 814-870-1774 or [email protected].

Obituaries and questions can be emailed to [email protected] or faxed to 814-870-1632 anytime. You will get a response back based off the hours listed above.

The Erie Times-News accepts obituaries Sunday-Friday until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday until 4:30 p.m. (early deadlines do apply for Holidays).

Emailed obituaries are preferred. Obituaries must come from or be confirmed through a funeral home.

Many obituaries are submitted directly from the funeral home or crematory. Please check with the funeral director as they may be able to send the obituary and handle payment. If you wish to place an obituary individually, please provide your full name, address and phone number, as well as the name and phone number of the funeral home or crematory handling the arrangements. Prepayment is required if submitting an obituary individually.

Free listings are available and may include name, age, address, date of death and funeral home handling arrangements, with a maximum of 4 lines.

Enhanced obituaries are an opportunity to allow the community to know your loved one's many accomplishments and interests. Packages start at $144 for 10 lines. Enhanced obituaries may include a photograph(s) and/or service icon.

Each listing appears on the front page of the B section of the newspaper on the date(s) it is published and on GoErie.com for 30 days.

All paid obituaries include an online listing and a Guest Book on GoErie.com/obits for one year. The name will be listed on the obituary section of www.goerie.com for the day(s) it appears online and the obit/guestbook will remain searchable in perpetuity. The Guest Book allows friends, family and coworkers to leave written tributes and is available in many other newspapers worldwide.

The Erie Times-News reserves the right refuse or edit information that is offensive to its readers, such as vulgarity, nudity and libelous or degrading comments.
