Alexander S. Rowinski, age 88, of Wesleyville, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013. He was born in Erie on July 23, 1925, son of the late Stanislaus and Mary Ann (Cendrowski) Rowinski and was raised by Anna (Janczewski) Rowinski.
Alexander was a veteran of the U.S. Army
, serving in counter intelligence during WWII
. He was employed at Dixie Ohio Express for 20 years. He was the owner of the Tiffany Bakery, located in the Millcreek Mall, for 16 years. Alexander enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, stamp collecting, and sports.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin sister, Julie, and his daughter Julieanne Fletcher, in 1996.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Irene (Mrozowski) Rowinski; three daughters, Carolyn Rowinski (Jim Gannon) of Ledyard, Conn., Kathleen Driggers (Gary) of Stuart, Fla., and Constance Rowinski (Jorge Ferreira) of Riverside, Calif.; five grandchildren, Zachary Fletcher, Thomas Driggers, Julieanne, Jorge Jr., and Alex Ferreira.
Friends may call at Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Wednesday at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., at St. James R.C. Church. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by American Legion Carl Neff Post 571. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James R.C.
