Angelo M. Geanous, age 72, of Erie, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the PA Soldiers & Sailors Home. He was born on January 2, 1941, in New Kensington, Pa., son of the late Menious G. and Ethel Patimithia Geanous.
A lifelong Erie resident, Angelo was employed as a cook at the Apollo Restaurant for ten years. He attended the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Angelo served in the U.S. Army
as a helicopter mechanic during the Vietnam War
. Angelo especially enjoyed the annual Greek Festival.
Angelo is survived by two sisters, Mary Koucouthakis of South Bend, Ind. and Helen Zanikos of Astoria, N.Y.; two nephews, Mike Geanous (Kathy) of Millcreek and Pete Geanous of Harborcreek; a niece, Elizabeth Geanous of Harborcreek; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Gus and Byron Geanous; and two sisters, Faye Tzoumas and Julia Kalogeras.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Trisagion Services will be conducted Monday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
