Anthony J. Reitz Jr.

Anthony J. Reitz, Jr., age 81, of Erie and formerly of Findley Lake, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Oswego, N.Y. on April 12, 1931, son of the late Anthony J., Sr. and Anna Ursula Coraden Reitz. Anthony was self-employed as a carpenter and was the owner and operator of Reitz Construction Co. from 1965 to 2009. He had previously been employed with General Electric, Bucyrus Erie and Presque Isle State Park. Anthony was a fabulous Golden Glove Boxer, winning seven Golden Glove titles. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter, and was the best shot around. Besides his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his daughter Heidi Reitz; two brothers, Albert and James Reitz; and three sisters, Rose Nelson,Betty Vincent and Mary MargaretBellinger. Anthony is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores Hammill Reitz; three daughters, Sandra Patterson of Tennessee, CindyReitz of Erie and Anna Luke (partner, Paul DePoint) of Clymer, N.Y.; three sons, James Reitz (Charlotte) of Millcreek Twp., Joel Reitz (Patricia) of North Clymer, N.Y., and Anthony J. Reitz III (Deborah) of Millcreek Twp.; two sisters, Shirley Omundsen (James) of Oswego, N.Y. and Patricia Harrington (William) of Oswego, N.Y.; one brother, Nicholas Reitz (Nancy) of Oswego, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren, Stacy, Stephen, Adam, Tina, Michael, Stephanie, Ashleigh, Jennifer, Brittany, Tara, Jason, Meghan, A.J., Matthew and Christopher; 16 great-grandchildren, Michael, Jr., Jessica, Christian, Skyler, Joseph, Alexander, Nathan, Aaron, Emily, Alana, Logan, Andrew, Alex, Madison, Zachery and Kacey; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 BuffaloRoad on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Friday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Luke R.C.
