Arthur L. Chamberlain


Arthur L. Chamberlain, age 101, a resident of the PA Soldiers' and Sailors' Home and formerly of St. Joseph Apartments, died there Sunday, April 6, 2014. He was born April 27, 1912 in Erie, the son of the late Clayton C. and Mary Lowell Chamberlain.

Art was a graduate of Academy High School and had served with the US Navy during WWII.

He had worked in the Tool and Die business in Cleveland, Ohio for 20 years before returning to Erie. Art was an avid reader and was a former member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Sis" Flanigan Chamberlain along with his brothers and sisters, Audrey Strohs, Jean Hayword, Ruth Greishober, Helen Whipple, Harold, Robert, and Paul Chamberlain.

Art is survived by nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th and Liberty St., Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon at which time Funeral Services will be held. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the PA Soldiers' & Sailors' Home Welfare Fund, 560 E. 3rd St., Erie, PA 16507.
