Charles G. Dunlap

Charles G. Dunlap, 72, of East Ave., Erie, Pa., died on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Corry Manor, Corry, Pa. He was born on October 17, 1940 in Olean, N.Y., a son of the late Harold and Margaret VanSchoick Dunlap. Charles was raised and educated in Erie and graduated from East High School in 1959. He then joined the U. S. Navy in 1960. He was stationed on the USS Essex Aircraft Carrier. Following his discharge in 1963, he returned to Erie and began working at General Electric. Charles was a supervisor in a locomotive test lab. He worked there until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death on October 17, 1999 by his wife, Judith M. Gavula Dunlap, whom he married on July 18, 1963; a sister, Gloria DeMetro and a brother, James Dunlap, in infancy. Charles is survived by a daughter, Nancy S. Dunlap of Corry, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Janice M. Baker and her husband Ron of Corry, Pa., and Kathy S. Sanson of Sarasota, Fla.; two sons, Charles J. Dunlap and his wife Cindy of Williamsport, Pa., and Robert H. Dunlap and his wife Debbie of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a sister Susan Dunmire and her husband Tom of Erie, Pa.; and two brothers, Harold Dunlap of North Ridgeville, Ohio, and John Dunlap and his wife Muriel of Vermont. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brittany, Benjamin, Adelaide, Lorelei, Heather, Stephen and Karen; five great-grandchildren, Lillian, Brendan, Jonathan, Brandon and Alyssa; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., and attend a graveside service, with military honors, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa., on Tuesady, at 11 a.m.
