Daniel James Firestone, 35, a lifelong resident of Wattsburg, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014. He was born in Corry, Pa. on May 9, 1978, a son of Daniel E. and Debra Gilger Firestone.
Daniel was a volunteer fireman
since the age of 14 and went on to serve in the United States Army in Iraq and Afghanistan. He currently worked with FCA as a laborer. He was an avid hunter and was a member of the Eagles Club and the VFW
. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and will be missed by many for his teasing ways.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Vera Newman Gilger; a step-grandmother, Barbara Gilger; and his paternal grandparents, Richard and Janette Firestone.
In addition to his parents survivors include three sisters, Sonja Firestone of Wattsburg, Brittany Frost-Firestone of Cambridge Springs, and Deborah Firestone of Wattsburg; a maternal grandfather, William "Pat" Gilger of Corry; nieces and nephews, Kelsey and Shayla Firestone, Brian, Alexa and Derek McClelland, and Maria Ertman; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of services there at 7 p.m. Burial will take place in Lowville Cemetery at a future date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
