David "Pappy" Cook, Jr., age 80, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013, at UPMC Hamot. He was born on July 29, 1933, in South Fork, Pa., son of the late David Sr. and Mary Jones Smith Cook.
David served in the U.S. Army
during the Korean Conflict
. He was employed as an electrician at Zurn Industries for 45 years prior to retirement. He was a member of the Huzar Club, Slovak and Fulton Clubs. David raised AKC beagles, enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, playing the guitar, and was an avid New England Patriots fan.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, June Troutman Cook; his sister, Rilla Thompson Wasielewski; and a brother, Archie Cook. He is survived by three daughters, Ruth Mattson (Chuck), Darlene Hawkins (Ricky) and Sandra Wieczorek (Mark), all of Erie; two sons, John Wyant (Lorain) and James Wyant (Terry), all of Erie; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. David Laakso, of Faith Lutheran Church. Interment, Erie County Memorial Gardens. A full military service will be conducted by American Legion Millcreek Post #773 at the cemetery.
