Dessie Reed Ford, age 93, of McKean and formerly of West 25th St., died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her residence.
She was born in Anderson, S.C. on March 24, 1920 a daughter of the late E. Frank and Jane Langley Reed.
Dessie was a 1st Lieutenant Army Nurse in WWII. She then worked as an RN for Hamot Medical Center for over 23 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church, a life member of the VFW
Post 470 and their Auxiliary where she held many offices, a member of the American Legion 773 in Millcreek, a volunteer at the Ridge Center and was instrumental in the WWII and Korean Monuments.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Ford in 1992 and a grandson, Russell Woyicki and a son-in-law, Joseph M. Woyicki.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Woyicki and her fiancé George Pasquarello of McKean and a son, Michael Ford of Phoenix, Ariz., four grandchildren, Robert (Christine) Woyicki of N.C., Ryan Woyicki of McKean, Randy (Shelley) Woyicki of Erie and Jake Ford of Ariz. and a great-grandson, Riley Woyicki.
Friends may call on Tuesday at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St. Erie, PA 16502 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to a service there on Wednesday morning at 9:15 followed by the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church at 10.
