Harley E. Werner

Harley E. Werner age 85 of Erie, died on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at St. Vincents Health Center following a brief illness. He was born in Erie on October 20, 1927 a son of the late Maurice E. and Ruth A. Wynkoop Werner Sr. He retired in 1976 from Marx Toys where he was a laborer for over 23 years. Harley was a former social member of American Legion Post #571, the East Erie Turners and enjoyed camping with his family. He attended Erie Christian Fellowship and Solomons Porch Apostolic Assembly Churches. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Struchen Werner in 1998 and one brother, Maurice E. Werner, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Roberta Wilbur and her husband, Daniel of Fairview, one granddaughter, Autumn Wilbur, one great-grandson, Eragon Wilbur, a few nieces and nephews and his dog, Sammy. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504 on Wednesday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Spraque officiating.
