Harry J. Staszewski Jr.

Harry J. "Bud" Staszewski, Jr., born on January 26, 1951, passed from this earth on Thursday January 3, 2013. He was the son of Harry J. Staszewski, Sr. and the late Dorothy Kuzminski Staszewski; husband of Janet Maras Staszewski; and beloved father of Jared and Jil. Harry was founder and President of Erie Aviation, Inc. for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2010. He ran the company with fairness and loyalty and was well known and respected in the aviation industry throughout the United States and Europe. He was a Lt. Colonel (ret.) in the United States Marine Corps, a United States Naval Academy Blue and Gold Officer and served on the congressional review board for the United States Military Academies. He was co-founder and owner of the former NoVa United Soccer Teams and had been appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the US Weights and Measures Committee. He was a member of the local chapter of the Civil Air Patrol and a volunteer for the Erie VA Medical Center. Harry was an inspired and talented keyboard player with the Mans Room Band. He had a gift and a love for music which he shared and passed on to both of his children. He was devoted to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. In addition to his father, wife, and children, survivors include his brothers, Tom (Linda) and David Staszewski; his Aunt Debbie Gerlock; parents in law, Jerry and Faye Maras; brothers and sisters in law, Gary Maras, Mary Beth and Mark Dylewski, Bob and Anna Maras, Kathy and Ken Gabbard; many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his band mates. Harry fought for what he believed in his entire life. He will be most remembered for his generosity and kindness and will be sadly missed. Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
