Helen E. Heffner Stiner

Helen E. Heffner Stiner, 94, of Erie, passed away Sunday evening February 10, 2013 at Pleasant Ridge Manor East following a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of Erie she was born September 7, 1918 a daughter of the late Louis J. and Erna Wiedeman Heffner. Helen graduated from Waterford High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a life member of the Belle Valley Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering with St. Vincent Health Center and camping with her late husband. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Stiner and two brothers, Charles and Louis "Bud" Heffner. Survivors include two sons, John Stiner and his wife Cathy of Gunnison, Colo. and James Stiner and his wife Shirley of Erie; one grandson, Andrew Stiner and his fiance Nikki Orton; two great grandchildren, Trinity and Hunter; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be private in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
