Helen McCurdy Hoover age 90, of Westlake Woods and formerly of Harborcreek, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday December 31, 2012. She was born in Indiana, Pa. on September 13, 1922 a daughter of the late Clair and Vada Weaver McCurdy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Virgil F. Hoover in 2005, one infant sister Virginia Lee McCurdy, one brother Raymond McCurdy and one son-in-law Bob Tuttle She was a 1939 graduate of Sagamore High School where she was the Salutatorian. Helen was a member of South Harborcreek United Methodist Church, also a member of United Methodist Women she was an officer in the local and district levels. Helen loved to play the organ and was an organist at her church and Hope Lutheran Church. Along with her husband they were members of the Erie Family Camping Group, enjoying going to many Bluegrass Festivals and were winter residents in Zephyr Hills, Florida for over 25 years. She is survived by one daughter Patricia Tuttle of Fairview, three sons; Richard Hoover and his wife Janet of North East Twp., James Hoover and his wife Christine of Harborcreek and Robert Hoover and his wife Jean of Harborcreek, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Helen is further survived by two brothers; Clair McCurdy and his wife Ruth of Indiana, Pa. and James McCurdy and his wife Elaine of Clymer, Pa., one sister; Norma Jean Langdon and her husband Howard of Millcreek, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Staff at Westlake Woods and Asera Care Hospice for the care and compassion they gave to Helen. Friends may call at the Russell C.
