Howard A. "Howie" Kerner Jr.

Howard A. " Howie" Kerner, Jr., age 62, of McKean, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie March 25, 1950, a son of the late Howard and Aileen Darr Kerner. Howie had worked at RD & D in Lawrence Park, and later was a machinist at AMSCO, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church. Howie was a motor head who loved his Harley, and was an antique and classic car enthusiast. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and his camp. Howie bowled at the St. Francis Ushers Club, where he was a member. A "Jack of all trades", he could fix just about anything. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John Cassano. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Sallyanne Geer Kerner; a son, Jason Kerner, and his wife Tricia, and their children, Howie, Zachary, and a great- grandson Howie, IV of Erie; two daughters, Stephanie Kerner, of Erie and Ali Kerner, of McKean; two sisters; Jeannie Cooper, and her husband Jerry, of Erie, and Kathy Cassano, of Erie; four brothers, Patrick Kerner, and his wife Karen, of Waterford, Charles Kerner, and Daniel Kerner, both of Erie, and Mark Kerner, and his wife Lisa, of Charlotte, N.C. Many nieces, nephews and good friends also survive. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. & 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, and are invited to attend services there, Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charles Cammarata officiating. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
