Howard Meade Sammons, 86, of Sarah Reed, Erie, Pa, formerly of Union City, Pa., passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital, in Erie, Pa. Howard was born in Wattsburg, Pa. on November 7, 1926 the son of the late DeForest and Olga C. Sammons. He was a high school graduate and served in the United States Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a manager for the former Quality Markets from 1939 retiring in 1989 after 50 years of service. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Union City, Pa. and a former member of the Erie Crawford State Police and a life time member of the Union City Volunteer Fire Department. Howard was preceded in death by his parents DeForest and Olga C. (Carpenter) Sammons, his wife Ellen (Campbell) Sammons, two sons Alan Sammons and Dr. M. Lynn Sammons, a sister Grace Willkins, and a brother Charles Sammons. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Dr. Lenora Sammons of Reading, Pa. a sister Doris Moskalski of Lititz, Pa., sister-in-law Dolores Dowler and her husband Donald of Mill Village, Pa. and a brother-in-law Harold Campbell and his wife Pat of Waterford, Pa., several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 62 South Main Street, Union City, Pa. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and attend funeral services at the United Presbyterian Church, corner of West High Street and Second Avenue, Union City, Pa. on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Robert Willert will officiate with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City, Pa. Memorials are requested to the United Presbyterian Church, West High Street, Union City, PA 16438.
