Howard P. Bovee, age 93, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at UPMC Hamot. Born August 12, 1920 in Erie, he was the son of the late Fred and Mayme (Parker) Bovee.
Howard was a graduate of Academy High School in 1938 and Erie Business College in 1940. He served our country as a veteran in the United States Army
Air Corps for more than three years in World War II
. He was a sergeant in the 2nd Air Force where he was a member of the 12th Heavy Bombardment Group. After his military service he was employed by the Boston Store, Marathon Electric, and finally with AMSCO for over 30 years until his retirement in 1984.
He was a lifelong member of Glenwood United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Homemakers Sunday School Class, Friendship Sunday School Class, and several other committees. He loved woodworking and was a master woodworker making clocks, cabinets, and figurines.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Rose (Smitti) Bovee in 2011; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
No public calling hours will be held and private burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard.
