Jack E. Bentley

Jack E. Bentley, age 91, of Girard, died Friday, February 15, 2013, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West. Born in Erie on November 7, 1921, he was the son of the late Stuart and Juanita Willy Bentley. After graduation from Academy High School, Jack served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a tailgunner. He was employed for over 41 years and retired from GE. Jack was a member of the Antique Auto Club, the Buick Club, Fairview American Legion Post 742, the Disabled American Veteran's Commanders Club, and a former member of the Erie Maennerchor Club and the Siebenbuerger Club. He enjoyed old cars and traveling. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Trevette and two stepsons, Richard and Charles Taylor. His is survived by his daughter-in-law, Helen Taylor of Fairview; grandchildren: Alan Taylor and his wife Darcy of Erie, Barbara Taylor of Lake City, Karen Taylor and Faythe Chevalier and her husband Dennis, all of Fairview, Brett Taylor and his wife Tracey of Cleveland, Ohio, Larry Taylor of Wash., Dana Taylor and his wife Donna and Julie Taylor Renfrew and her husband Tony of Calif., and Sam Taylor and his wife Leslie of Va.; as well as many great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Pleasant Ridge Manor West for the wonderful care given to Jack. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 5 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Miller officiating and with full military honors.
