James Dowling Postlewaite

James D. Postlewaite, age 69, of Erie, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Punxsutawney, Pa, on March 31, 1944, a son of the late James Blair and Joanna Margaret (Anthony) Postlewaite. Jim was retired from General Electric Company for which he worked 42 and a half years, most of his years were spent in the Power House. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his grandson who got his first buck in 2011. He enjoyed restoring, displaying and pulling antique tractors especially his two-cylinder John Deere's. He was a member of Brokenstraw Antique Tractor Club, Pioneer Steam & Gas Engine Society and former Fire Chief of the Kuhl Hose Fire Company. Jim is survived by his wife, Rita (Nelligan) Postlewaite; three children, Matthew Postlewaite, Heather Oberlin and her husband, Steve, and Daniel Postlewaite and his wife, Vanessa; four sisters, Bobbie Baun, Inez Nichols, Joanna Steele, and Barb Hanley and her husband Bob; three brothers, Dick and his partner Joyce Brown, Dave and his wife, Joan and Bill and his wife, Barb; eight grandchildren, Abby, Robbie, and Jenny Postlewaite, Corey, Katie, and Zach Oberlin, and Austin and Ryan Alloway; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Koval and her husband Albert; and three brothers-in-law, Wayne Baun, Beryl Nichols, and Dale Steele. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to funeral services there on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Rev.
