James Snyder Obituary

James F. Snyder, 60, of Union City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning February 23, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born on July 28, 1952 at Union City, a son of Helen Glover Snyder and the late Maryott "Skat" Snyder. He was married to Sherry Shrout on May 26, 1979 in Titusville. Jim was a graduate of the Union City High School, class of 1970. He worked for General Electric in Erie as a machinist for 31 years until his retirement in 2009. He was also a certified locksmith. Jim was a member of the Brown Hill Methodist Church. He currently attended the Union City Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed riding his scooter; building outdoor furniture; and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his gentle caring ways and will be sadly missed by all who loved and cared for him. Jim is survived by his wife Sherry of Union City; his mother Helen Snyder of Union City; a daughter, Christy Messina and husband Michael of Spartansburg; a son, Jimmy Snyder of Union City; two grandchildren, Austin and Tyler Messina; a brother, Frank Snyder of Union City; four sisters, Dorothy Gourley and husband Gary of Union City, Beverly Yucha and husband Eddie of Cambridge Springs, Linda Snyder and companion Tom Knauff of Meadville, and Karen Snyder of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Union City Presbyterian Church, 37 W. High Street, with Rev. Rob Willert, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Titusville. If you would like to leave a condolence for the family, go to garrettfuneralhomeinc.com

Dad Its hard to believe its been a week since you been gone. I wake up every day with a sadness in my heart. Whenever I needed something I could always depend on u for help. U were my best friend. Knowing I can never again ask u for advice bring tears to my eyes. I miss u and love u so much. I know you're in heaven now living forever in the presence of the lord. Tell God and Jesus "Thank u that he sent u to be my dad".
