John B. Walker, Sr., 67, of Tionesta, Pa., died Sunday, February 23, 2014 in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, Pa.
He was born November 13, 1946, in Ford City, a son of Samuel George and Phyllis (Shick) Walker.
John was a veteran of the Vietnam War
, in which he served with the U.S. Navy
for two years and six months. He retired from General Electric of Erie, where he worked for 29 1/2 years. He was a Master Mason and belonged to the Union City Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the VFW
and American Legion, both of Erie, and the United Way. He was a former member of the PA National Guard of Meadville, for ten years. He enjoyed working with his computer and smoking cigars.
Surviving are his mother, Phyllis Walker of Kittanning; his wife, Patricia (Ewing) Walker of Tionesta; a daughter, Jeanette (Michael) Westfall of Tionesta, a son, John (Jenelle) Walker, Jr., of Erie; a sister, Melanie Shaffer of Kittanning; a brother, Dennis Walker of Kittanning; and his grandchildren, Brea Walker, Tricia Westfall, Isabella Walker, Sophia Walker and Bentley Walker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel George Walker; brothers, Samuel Walker, Jr., and Vince Walker and his wife Beverly; a sister, Sandra Johnson; a grandson, Cole Walker; a brother-in-law, Jack Shaffer; and a nephew, John J. Johnson.
Friends will be welcomed from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, in the Welch Funeral Home, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 27, with Mr. Lloyd Riggle, C.R.E., officiating.
