John C. Tate

John C. Tate, age 67, of Erie, died Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Saint Vincent Health Center after a brief illness.

He was born January 10, 1946 in Erie, a son of the late Donald and Maxine Schmelter Tate. He lived in Erie his entire life.

John was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and Gannon University.

He worked for 26 years as a police officer for the City of Erie.

He was a member of the Masonic Temple and life time member of Alcanon Club.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Linda L. McCammon-Tate of Erie; a daughter, Alexis J. Tate (Darla Wile) of Erie; three sons, Shawn Latshaw (Hilary) of Franklin, Pa., Joseph F. Kellerman (Miriam) of Silver City, N.M. and Michael S. Richter of Erie ;and grandchildren, Damon, Amanda, Ally and Alexa; and special granddaughter, Amber B. McKay. He is also survived by special friends, Bob and Bill.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until time of the Memorial Service there at 8 p.m. The Erie Retired Police Officers Association will conduct a service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m.
