John "Jay" F. Hadley, Jr., age 46, of Lake City passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center following a courageous battle with P.K.D. He was born November 2, 1966 in Erie, the son of the late John Hadley, Sr. and the late Nancy Reynolds Hadley Younger. Jay was a 1986 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and for 20 years had lived with his wife Karen in New Jersey where he had worked as a production co-ordinater for Ocean Spray Cranberry. They moved back to the Erie area in July of 2011 to be near family during Jay's illness. He loved computers, online gaming, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler's fan. He also enjoyed reading history and spending time with his son, Jayson. John was a man with a gruff exterior, but inside, there was a heart of gold and he was a wonderful listener and friend to many Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Madonna Hadley; his maternal grandparents, Walter Reynolds, Sr. and Phyllis Grappy along with his uncles, Thomas and Walter Reynolds, Jr. and a cousin, Reggie Haugsdahl. Jay is survived by his wife, Karen Hites Hadley and their son, Jayson Daniel. He is the brother of Heather Kernohan and Renee Strain, both of Erie, and is the son-in-law of Harold and Patricia Hites of Lake City. Jay is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousin, nieces, nephews and brother and sister-in-laws. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend Funeral Services there Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
