Joseph J. Moski

Joseph J. Moski, age 92, of Erie, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Born in Erie on June 1, 1921, he was a son of the late John and Catherine (Kara) Moski.

Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, for being seriously wounded in Guadalcanal on January 15, 1943. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church. In the early 1940s, he and his brothers owned and operated Moski's Co. He later worked at Erie Forge, Burke Electric, and Marathon Electric. He was last employed at G.E. Transportation, retiring from there in 1986.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (Felisiak) Moski, who died in 1981, and three brothers, John, Edward and Casmier Moski.

He is survived by a daughter, Shirley A. Wolf; husband Gregory, of Erie; a son, Joseph A. Moski, wife Brenda, of Erie; two sisters, Bertha Wernicki and Sophie Grygier, both of Erie; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Calling hours and services will be private. Private burial, with military honors, will be at Calvary Cemetery. Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St., is handling arrangements.

The family would like to thank the VA Hospice Team and Sunrise Senior Living Facility for their compassionate care.
