Joyce Ann Singer, age 66, of Millcreek, passed away unexpectedly, on Saturday, August 23, 2014. She was born in Indiana, Pa., on November 19, 1947, a daughter of the late Donald and Thelma Moore MacMurdo.
Joyce graduated from Academy High School in 1965, she retired in 2003 from the Haysite Manufacturing Co., where she worked as an accounting assistant, and spent every winter after that in the Leesburg, Florida area. She was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, the North Coast Sewing Guild of Erie, Holiday Quilters of Florida, Monday Afternoon Knitters, Erie Family Campers RV Group, and enjoyed her monthly meetings with the "Club Girls." Joyce was also a member of the Robert Burns Society, which showed her great pride in her Scottish Heritage. She very much enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and camping, but above all her most important activity was spending time with her family and her dog, Piper.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Paul Singer; three children, Rob Duffin and his wife Carrie, of Erie, Laurie Duffin, of Baltimore, Md., and Heather Sidun and her husband Jeremy, of Erie; eight grandchildren, Adam Lawrence, Brandon, Emily and Abbi Young, Jared and Owen Sidun, and Cherisse and Reggie Harris; one great-granddaughter Alexis Harris; one brother, Donald MacMurdo Jr.; two sisters, Sandra MacMurdo, and Susan Volgstadt and her husband Ronald, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504, on Tuesday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a toast in her honor at 8:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m., at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. I was so sorry to hear of Joyce's passing, and will be sorry not to express condolences in person as I am out of town. Joyce was a friend through the Sewing Guild and Yaple's, and certainly left her family too soon. I hope you are all able to think of the great times and love you shared!

Paul and Family, words can not express the surprise I felt when I was told of Joyce passing away. Her memories and her laughter will always remain in Dick's and my heart. We have had wonderful times with you both. Our happy hours in Florida and the camping times and above all our trips to Berlin, that was one of her favorite places to go. God Bless
