Larry served in the Coast Guard from 1965 to 1970, first as a member of President Johnson's Presidential Honor Guard and later as a medical corpsman. He attended Edinboro State College from 1971 to 1975 and was elected president of the Student Government Association (SGA) in 1972 & 1973. Following school, he worked primarily in off-shore drilling and worked most of his career at Atwood Oceanics traveling the world with responsibilities that focused on safety, health and security. He lived for many years in Baton Rouge, La., Houston, Texas, Cairo, Egypt and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was named Cosmopolitan bachelor of the month for June, 1982. He was known for his warmth, humor and generosity to friends all over the world, and no matter where he was living at the time, he always returned every fall for the past 33 years to the Edinboro Homecoming without fail. An educational memorial fund has been established at Edinboro University. Gifts can be made to the Edinboro University Alumni Association Larry Hill Memorial Scholarship.
