Luella A. Lewis Cochran

Luella A. Lewis Cochran, formerly of Lake City, Pa., passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Manchester Presbyterian Lodge. She was born in Franklin Center, Pa. on October 19, 1922, daughter of the late Dewey McKinley and Ruth Gidner Lewis. After graduating from high school in Edinboro, she received her teaching degree from the Edinboro State Teacher's College (Edinboro University). She taught in the Special Education field and most recently had been employed by the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit until she retired. Luella was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church, where she was an active volunteer. She was Past President of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a war bride, married during a blizzard on December 26, 1944, while on leave from the European front, her husband and love of her life, Robert Cochran, Jr. came home to a short honeymoon before returning to the war. Luella and her husband moved their family to Lake City in 1952. They had a happy, healthy life until health issues moved them to Manchester Presbyterian Lodge in 2006. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her, sister, Marian Stoll; her brothers Samuel Lewis and Harold Lewis; and beloved grandson, Robert Fuller in 2001. She will be deeply missed by her husband Robert Cochran Jr., daughters, Robin Bessire and her husband Bill of Fremont, Ohio; Patricia Cochran of Erie; Jeanne Pacansky and her husband Mike of Girard, Pa.; and Margaret Hayes and her husband Roger of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren, Amy Lybrook, Kimberly Fleischer, Tina Gorski, Amanda Dennis, Melissa Garthwaite Burkhart, Sarah Hayes and Roger Hayes IV; and 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received at the Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard, Pa. on Sunday between the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
