Martino "Marty" A. Coccarelli, Sr., 84, a resident of the PA Soldiers and Sailors Home, died Tuesday morning June 18, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital following a brief illness. A resident of Erie all of his life he was born November 11, 1928 a son of the late August and Salutina Lombardi Coccarelli. Martino attended Academy High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict
. He worked as a tile setter with the Local Union Hall Bricklayers #28 for over 40 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Pulaski, Holy Trinity, and Siebenbuerger Clubs. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and baking breads, pizza, subs, and Italian sausage. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Rinaldo, John, Armando, Fr. Augusto, and Louis Coccarelli; and one sister, Rose Coccarelli. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Patricia Schuwerk Coccarelli; one daughter, Laura J. White and her husband, David of Erie; two sons, Martino A. Coccarelli Jr. and his wife, Shelley and Anthony J. Coccarelli Sr., all of Erie; seven grandchildren, Katie Filutze and her husband, Mike, Kara and Kym Drapcho, Nicholas Coccarelli, Angela Ritz, Martina Coccarelli, and Anthony J. Coccarelli, Jr.; one great- grandchild, Cory Taylor Coccarelli; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to prayer services there on Friday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
