Marvin Lorenzo Butler, age 45, 202 Sassafras St., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 3, 2013. He was born in Memphis, Tenn. on January 29, 1968, son of George Butler of Indianapolis, Ind. and Juanita Pope Butler of Erie. He was raised in Indianapolis, Ind. where he graduated from George Washington High School. He relocated to Erie in 2010. He had been employed in the catering depts. of various hotels in Indianapolis. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Marvin enjoyed going to church, playing bingo and going to the casino. He was an outgoing person and loved to have a good time. He was loved by his family and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Butler and sister, Camera Butler. In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory two brothers, Kelvin Butler and Tywaine Butler (Monique Dempsey) of Erie; three sisters, Arnita Butler of Indianapolis, Ind., Tina Butler of Erie and Tanasha Butler of Meadville, Pa.; his stepmother, Lena Butler of Indianapolis, Ind.; two stepbrothers, Anthony Appleton of Schererville, Ind. and Patrick Appleton (Trina) of Carmel, Ind.; three stepsisters, Valerie Appleton of Atlanta, Ga., Cynthia Johnson (Michael) of Clarkston, Mich. and Monica Appleton of Indianapolis, Ind.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and special family friend, Harold Wagner. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, at Antioch Baptist Church, 160 W. 20th St. (20th and Sassafras) conducted by Pastor Floyd R. McClure.
