Marybelle Chapman Foerschner

Marybelle Chapman Foerschner, age 95, of North East, died on Tuesday, Novemeber 13, 2012, at home. She was born on December 5, 1916 daughter of the late Lewis and Mary McFayden Chapman. Marybelle was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy Waves as a priority officer. She was stationed in the Philadelphia Naval Yard and Pearl Harbor. She was an instrumental member of A.A.U.W. & D.A.R. where she formerly served as a D.A.R. Pennsylvania State Regent and was passionate about the Tamassee D.A.R. Schools. Marybelle attended Ohio University and subsequently graduated from Edinboro University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She formerly taught elementary school in the Crawford and Erie County School Districts for several years. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed family genealogy, antiques, reading literature, and flowers. Marybelle was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard V. Foerschner; daughter, Brienne Rohloff; son, Kurt Foerschner; and brothers, Howard, James, and Harry Chapman. She is survived by children, Bradley and Sandra (Bill); son-in-law, Bobby Rohloff; grandchildren, Loren, John (Theresa), Daniel (Stacey) Simonsen, Bradlee, Colin, Brennan, Matthew and Michelle, and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home on Friday 7-9 and at the First Presbyterian Church, 25 West Main Street, North East, on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Officiating is Rev.
