Paul Martin Hotchkiss

Paul Martin Hotchkiss, 92, of Edinboro, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Hamot Hospital. He was born in Edinboro on August 23, 1920, the son of the late Raymond & Alice (Millspaw) Hotchkiss.

Paul had been a dairy farmer all his life. As a young man attending Edinboro High School, he was very interested in football. However, Paul was never able to pursue football because of having to work the farm after school. He was an active member of the National Farmers Organization, and during WWII he was contracted to grow potatoes for the war effort.

Paul was a member of the Edinboro United Methodist Church, serving on many different boards and committees, including the building committee. When he was younger, Paul loved to bowl and especially roller skate. Paul was also a great storyteller.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pearl, in March 2012 and his son, John, in March of 2013.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Jara (Frank) of Iowa, Marla Broyles (Lewis) of Ga., Sandy Sterling (Mark) of Meadville; two sons, David Hotchkiss (Annette) of Edinboro and James Hotchkiss of Edinboro; a sister, Phyllis Stafford of Edinboro; also 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Edinboro United Methodist Church, 113 High Street, Edinboro, on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. A service will be held there at 6 p.m. with Rev. Lisa Grant officiating.

The Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro, is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
