Robert J. Moore, age 84, of Millcreek Twp. passed away at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' & Sailors' Home in Erie, Thursday, October 10, 2013. He was born in Erie, July 9, 1929, a son of the late James and Wanda (Blasco) Moore.
Robert was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army
Air Corps and was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy
and the National Guard. He worked for 10 years as a welder at G.E. Transportation and later at Lord Corporation as a press operator, retiring after 33 years of service there. His interests included fishing, baseball, watching western movies and reading. He enjoyed spending time with his family and pets.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Fox; a cousin, Dr. Raymond Blasco; and a sister-in-law, Lois Horn.
Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanne (Horn) Moore, whom he married in 1954; a son, Dale Moore, of Erie; two daughters, Debra Fox, husband Raymond, of Lake City and Pamela King, husband Richard, of Erie; four grandchildren, Matthew Fox, of Lake City, Liana Walczak, of New York City, Jamie King, of Erie and April Fernald, husband Heath, of Fredericksburg, Va.; a brother, James Moore, wife Sally, of Cibolo, Texas; a brother-in-law, Gordon Horn, of Ringoes, N.J.; sister-in-law, Kathy Yates, husband Glenn, of Sevierville, Tenn.; and a good family friend, Joan Stacy; along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd., Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and to attend a service there, Monday at 11 a.m., with the Rev.
