Robert J. Shea

Robert J. Shea, age 88 of Erie, passed away Tuesday, January 29th, 2013, at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie, April 11th, 1924, a son of the late Everett L. and Mildred M. Salchli Shea. Before his retirement in 1988 he worked for the Erie Fire Department for 32 years. At the time of his retirement he had achieved the rank of Deputy Chief of the 1st Platoon. When not working at the firehouse, he worked at and owned Shea Electric. Bob was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Siebenbuerger and Maennerchor Clubs and a member of the former East Erie Turners. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #571 and a former member of Post # 771. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid Cleveland Browns Fan. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Frances M. Dembinski Shea and his step dad Daniel Murphy. Survivors include his wife, Joan Jobczynski Shea; a son Robert M. Shea and Mary of Erie; three step children, Alex Andrzejczak, wife Kim of Erie, Robert "Bobby" Andrews and Theresa of Erie and Deborah Fuller, husband John of Wattsburg; Seven grandchildren, Kimberly Andersen husband Rolf of Lancaster, Kelly Shea, Taylor Shea, Ashley Shea, John Fuller Jr., Jacob Fuller, Alex Andrezejczak III; step brother, Jack Shea, wife Virginia of Ft. Myers, Fla.; sister in law, Barbara Koziarski. Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory LLP, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th Street, Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend services Saturday at 12:15 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church at 1 p.m. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
