Ronald A. Gross

Ronald A. Gross, age 84, a resident of Pennsylvania Soldiers & Sailors Home, died there on Tuesday, February 5th, 2013. He was born in Erie February 8th, 1928, a son of the late William E. and Marie Rose Amann Gross. Ron served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a machine operator with Inland Container for 43 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of American Legion Post #771, the Pulaski Club, Holy Trinity Club and the PNA Club. He was an accomplished pianist and played for many family functions. Ron was preceded in death by two daughters, Bonnie Anthony and Julie Marie Gross-Krusewicz; a granddaughter Pamela Lynn Hershelman; a great grandson, Timothy Hershelman; three sisters, Katherine Wood, Viola Wilhelm and Marie Post; three brothers, Richard A., Christian "Bud" and William G. Gross. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Makara of Freeland Pa. and Laura Jean Westphal and her husband Jake of Salem, Ore.; Eight Grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Ryan and Donna Kozikowski Smith, all of Erie; three brothers, Kenneth W. Gross, Paul L. Gross, and his wife Bernadette, Robert L. Gross and his wife, Beverly, all of Erie. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th Street, Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and may attend services there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Church at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
