Rose Bennett O'Dowd, age 92, of Sandy Spring, Md. and formerly of Erie, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Sandy Spring. She was born February 8, 1920 in Erie, the daughter of the late Anthony and Angeline Mongello Bennett. A lifelong resident of Erie, Rose had attended St. Andrew Catholic Church. Five years ago she moved to Maryland, to be near her daughter. Besides her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, James O'Dowd and a brother, Ralph Bennett. Rose is survived by a daughter, Patricia Kister and her husband William of Silver Spring, Md. and a son, James A. O'Dowd of San Jose, Calif. She is the grandmother of William Kister and Carolyn Simpkins and is also survived by four great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Services will be private, with burial in Trinity Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St.
